Esri Streamlines IT Operations With ScienceLogic Management Software

RESTON, VA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Jun 28, 2011 -- Esri, the market leader in geographic information system (GIS) technology, has deployed ScienceLogic™ Inc. EM7™ technology to centralize IT operations across more than 10 departments. By relying on the EM7 platform for network, application, systems, virtualization and event management, Esri can now eliminate 12 separate monitoring tools, resulting in improved communication across its various IT disciplines, reduced downtime, faster troubleshooting, and fewer maintenance and administrative costs.

"ScienceLogic has enabled Esri IT to stop living in silos and be more collaborative about both solving problems and planning strategic initiatives," said Allie McKinley, systems engineer for Esri. "The ScienceLogic EM7 product is melded into our daily lives and provides Esri IT a common foundation for understanding what is happening across the entire infrastructure and working together in support of the business."

Esri uses ScienceLogic EM7 to manage IT operations out of its headquarters in Redlands, Calif., as well as monitor its Microsoft Exchange servers companywide. Esri plans to expand EM7 monitoring to its nine regional offices across the U.S. to help ensure optimum business service delivery across its infrastructure. In addition, Esri intends to use the built-in ScienceLogic cloud management capabilities to ensure its efficient use of public cloud services, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), and keep costs in check through the ScienceLogic EM7 real-time cloud cost calculator.

"Managing a fast moving, modern IT operation like Esri's is too complex to get saddled with the tunnel vision and administrative burden that is the unfortunate legacy of traditional management tools and point solutions," said David Link, ScienceLogic CEO. "ScienceLogic simplifies IT for customers like Esri and helps them manage virtual and cloud computing resources and applications, with one constantly updated view into performance across the entire distributed data center infrastructure."

Esri cited the ScienceLogic EM7 product's comprehensiveness as a key factor in its decision to deploy the technology. Other vendors offer multiple modules to get the same functionality and require customers to buy each one separately with different cost structures. ScienceLogic sells all functionality in one platform for one price and provides any new functionality to the customer automatically, as part of their maintenance.
