The Murray State University Board of Regents approved the establishment of the Mid-America Remote Sensing Center (MARC) in 1979. MARC is administered through the Office of the Dean of the College of Science. MARC provides facilities for formal education related to programs at Murray State which utilize remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies. Technological assistance is offered to the public and private sectors in addition to research conducted by faculty, staff, and students. Teaching, research, and service activities have been conducted at the local, regional, national, and international levels through formal courses, seminars, research projects, and assistance to public and private entities.
