eMap International Launches its Flagship Product at GeoINT 2010: VectorLock® – The First Security System for Shapefiles
In development for the last year, eMap and its research and development partner, PAR Government, proudly unveiled VectorLock – The First Security System for Shapefiles at the 2010 GEOINT Symposium in New Orleans, Louisiana. VectorLock is a patented and trademarked ArcGIS® extension that enables organizations to protect geospatial data by controlling user access to shapefiles.
Whether it’s sharing project files with contractors, protecting enterprise data integrity or selling proprietary datasets, VectorLock ensures that your geospatial data doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. Designed to replace complicated and unenforceable license agreements, VectorLock uses file permissions and timed licenses to control access to sensitive data. VectorLock is scheduled for release in January 2011. When available, eMap will offer three editions of the toolbar:
- Standard – open, view and perform basic GIS tasks on shapefiles protected with VectorLock
- Advanced – all the functionality of the Standard edition with ArcGIS editing capabilities
- Admin – full functionality with the ability to protect and license shapefiles
The Advanced and Admin editions are licensed annually on a per seat basis; while the Standard edition is free for everyone to download and use with ArcGIS.
