Schott Systeme Help to Make 5 Axis Machining Affordable

Munich, Germany – Helping to make 5 axis machining affordable, German software developer Schott Systeme GmbH has retained their CAD/CAM software pricing for the 13th consequtive year. Company founder Hans-Joachim states, “Our aim is to make the very latest 5 axis machining technologies both accessible and affordable.” This translates into customers being able to purchase Schott Systeme’s complete mould design and 3 - 5 axis milling and engraving software for under €13,000. Herr Schott continues, “We also feel that our policy of not charging for yearly maintenance is of major financial benefit to our customers, which is in contrast to how the majority of CAD/CAM vendors operate.”

The latest 5 axis machining enhancements launched for 2010 are already helping to reduce the time required to apply complex toolpaths, and at the core is Schott Systeme’s implementation of multi-threading toolpath calculations. This approach for example, now sees a quad core processor being able in many cases to reduce the complex calculations of toolpath and tool collision by almost four fold. The company has in addition updated their full machine simulation, to better highlight potential conflicts between the machine head, table and job. Finally, a number of entirely new machining strategies have been implemented, including automatic slot machining (only requiring the slot guide curve and cross section), and new methods to limit 5 axis machining techniques to 4 axis machines.
