Siemens PLM Software Maintains Long Standing #1 Ranking in cPDm and Digital Manufacturing According to CIMdata

Company Claims Top Spots in Two Fastest Growing Market Sectors for Ninth and Fifth Straight Years Respectively with its Teamcenter and Tecnomatix Software Solutions

PLANO, Texas — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 8, 2010Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that – for the ninth year in a row – it has been recognized by leading PLM management consulting and research firm CIMdata, Inc. as the market presence leader in the industry’s collaborative Product Definition management (cPDm) category. CIMdata also ranked Siemens PLM Software the revenue leader in the Digital Manufacturing market segment for the fifth straight year. These findings, based on in-depth data and analysis of the PLM market, were announced by CIMdata in March and are detailed in their upcoming 2010 PLM Market Analysis Report.

“The consistent strength of Siemens PLM Software’s Teamcenter® software in cPDm – a core component of most PLM environments – has resulted in it being the cPDm market presence leader for the past several years,” said Ed Miller, President of CIMdata. “Additionally, Siemens PLM Software’s Tecnomatix® software Digital Manufacturing solution suite has maintained itself as the market leader in this category; an area of growing importance to the overall PLM industry. We project these two market sectors to have strong compound annual growth rates (CAGR) over the next five years, which should bode well for Siemens PLM Software.”

According to CIMdata, cPDm will continue as the fastest-growing segment of the PLM market with a five-year CAGR forecast of 8.7 percent, resulting in a projected cPDm market size of approximately $12 billion by 2014, based on total software and services investments. In second place relative to market growth rate is the digital manufacturing sector with a five-year CAGR forecast of 8.0 percent, according to CIMdata. These growth rates compare favorably with CIMdata’s forecast of 7.7 percent CAGR for the Mainstream PLM market as a whole.

“The leadership rankings we received from CIMdata in these two vital and fast growing PLM market sectors serves to validate our customer focused strategy and open business model,” said Eric Sterling, senior vice president, Global Marketing, Siemens PLM Software. “The cross-industry breadth and functional depth of our Teamcenter and Tecnomatix solutions have helped us maintain our position as a proven global PLM leader.”
