Mitsubishi Agricultrure Machinery (MAM), Shaves Weeks off Product Development Time Using MSC.Software's SimXpert

Increased Demand for Tools Creates Need for Increased Innovation by

Agricultural Tool Manufacturers

SANTA ANA, Calif. —September 16, 2009— MSC.Software Corp. (NASDAQ: MSCS), a leading global provider of simulation software applications and related services today announced that agricultural machine manufacturer, MAM, has shaved weeks off of tractor product development time in the nine months since its implementation of MSC.Software’s SimXpert.

In recent years the demands on agricultural machines have changed due to consolidation of farm-sized fields into large-scale agricultural land and increased export. This has driven the need for validation using analysis during the design process. MAM is a new simulation customer and selected SimXpert, which incorporates capabilities of both MD Nastran and MD Adams, for use in nonlinear finite element (FEA) analysis and motion analysis of their agricultural machinery. Within two months of implementation, MAM saw positive results from their purchase.

“Before implementing SimXpert, we relied on physical testing in order to equip our tractors with Roll Over Protective Structures (ROPS),” said Takashi Shiraga, Deputy General Manager of Development and Production Division. “In the event that a test model needed to be remade, it would add 2-3 weeks of development time. With SimXpert we save that time and associated dollars. Sim Xpert’s template capabilities provide us with highly accurate validation earlier on in the design process.”
