Dimensional Control Systems Inc. (DCS) announces the release of 3DCS CAA V5 Based version 6.18.0.0 for CATIA V5
Troy, Michigan U.S.A, April 27th, 2009 – Dimensional Control Systems Incorporated (DCS), the world leader in the field of Dimensional Engineering and Tolerance Analysis, announced today the availability of 3DCS CAA V5 Based version 6.18.0.0 for CATIA V5 Tolerance Analysis software on both Windows XP 32-bit and 64-bit platforms. This release is supported on CATIA V5 R14 - R19 releases. Version 6.18.0.0 includes many new and exciting enhancements to increase modeling performance and accuracy while maintaining the quality our users have come to know and expect. Because many of these enhancements are customer driven, we feel that we have hit the mark yet again delivering best-in-class tolerance analysis software, which help our customers develop higher-quality products at a lower cost.
“DCS’s commitment to excellence remains our top priority,” said Robert Kaphengst, President and CEO. “We continue to advance our software to be more efficient and easier to use while still delivering accurate results with the goal of simulating reality,” he added. “The recent release of 3DCS CAA V5 Based delivers on that promise.”
3DCS CAA V5 Based
Tolerance Analysis is used to ‘drive’ the design (both geometry and tolerances) to meet defined quality and cost requirements while meeting component manufacturers’ capabilities. 3DCS CAA V5 Based Tolerance Analysis software offers engineering the opportunity to optimize component tolerances and maximize quality while minimizing costs. The optimal time to complete the variation analysis is as early in the product's lifecycle as possible to make the most impact to the overall design quality. Whether the quality characteristics are for fit, finish / aesthetic properties, or functional requirements, 3DCS can definitely be used to improve the assembly quality.
3DCS gives users the ability to evaluate design and assembly concepts up front, where problems can be identified early in the product development lifecycle. Optimizing for dimensional integrity improves the robustness of the design and process by maximizing part tolerances while maintaining the dimensional requirements of the final assembly.
Best-in-Class Tolerance Analysis
DCS firmly believes that the ‘voice of the customer’ plays a major role in software development. 3DCS CAA V5 Based version 6.18.0.0 clearly reflects this with well over 120+ new customer driven enhancements. From a tighter CAD integration to improved tolerance optimization to more precise GD&T validation to improved capabilities for modeling flexible assemblies, 3DCS is clearly positioned as the most comprehensive, in-depth tolerance analysis solution on the market. DCS’s dominance in the field of tolerance analysis ensures that the needs of our customers across numerous industries including Automotive, Aerospace, Consumer Goods, High Tech, Medical/Surgical and E&E are being addressed.

Benefits of CAD Integration
“A tight integration of 3DCS within CATIA V5 extends opportunities for design and manufacturing to truly become allies in producing exciting products in an increasingly competitive world,” said John Mathieson, DCS Executive VP and COO. “Tolerance analysis has long been a valuable tool for reducing manufacturing costs by improving productivity. However, it is the integration of tolerance analysis in the early design stages, when little information is available on process capability that has been a difficult matter to address, usually requiring many iterations between design and manufacturing. The philosophy of ‘getting the design right the first time’ really brings home the need for proactive tolerance analysis which is fully immersed into the CAD environment.”
“Tolerance Analysis continues to be a critical aspect of the design process for our customers,” said Dominique Gaunet, CATIA R&D Domain Leader 3D Tolerancing Products & Drafting, Dassault Systèmes. “The deep and seamless integration of 3DCS into CATIA V5 design and manufacturing solutions is required to achieve both cost reductions and product quality improvement. The release of 3DCS CAA V5 Based version 6.18.0.0 and the partnership with DCS is a testament to our ongoing strategy to expand the Dassault Systèmes partner ecosystem to include best-in-class simulation solutions for a comprehensive range of applications.”
