A unique and streamlined approach facilitates successful, cost-effective implementations of this industry standard application
PORTSMOUTH, RI - April 14, 2009 - CDV Systems, Inc. -
www.cdvsystems.com - a provider of Autodesk Revit Architecture, Structure and MEP implementation, training, project review, consulting services and courseware to the national and international AEC market, offers a unique approach for Autodesk Revit success to its clients. It is known as “Train the Project”® training.
“The foundation of our consulting is based on the needs of the client’s project,” explains Cyril Verley, architect and founder of CDV Systems. “All our training services are focused on the success of our client’s project, which in turn drives the success of their office.” One unique way CDV accomplishes this success is through hands-on instruction in the unique “Train the Project” training series, which includes senior executives, project managers, and production users with a firm- wide focus on the conversion to Autodesk Revit.
Mario Guttman, Firmwide CAD Director at HOK states that his international firm “has used CDV Systems for Revit training and implementation assistance since we decided to move all of our projects to BIM, starting in 2005… we have asked Cyril Verley and his staff to work directly with projects, or to do live training sessions, and they have performed excellently.” In recent years, HOK has averaged 64 full and partial weeks of training with CDV annually across most of their US locations.
Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, LLP, another CDV Systems client, has also utilized CDV’s services in several of its offices. Robert Yori, Digital Design Manager of Firmwide Training, explains:“CDV Systems has proven to be an invaluable partner in Skidmore, Owings & Merrill’s Revit education programs. We are pleased with the skills our CDV-trained graduates have brought to SOM’s projects, whether focused in Architecture, Structure, or the MEP disciplines.”
The key difference between CDV Systems and other training providers lies in the fact that the majority of training models are based on stock design datasets that focus on the use of Autodesk Revit as a schematic design tool – so a learner is faced with the daunting task of creating a design while simultaneously learning a new software tool.
In the CDV training model, initial implementation sessions provide the groundwork for the transition from legacy CAD to Autodesk Revit. This is followed by the heart of the CDV Training model, “Train the Project."
“Train the Project” is a multi-stage training model where Autodesk Revit is first taught as a design development tool using the client’s current DD phase project(s). This enables users to learn the basics of the program and model their completed designs. This unique strategy of using a completed model during “Train The Project” has jump-started dozens of projects, keeps the project on track and allows a portion of the training time to be billable hours. The second stage of the training provides instruction into a deeper, more advanced use of Autodesk Revit while continuing to use the client’s project file. User questions and concerns about the modeling and documentation process are also addressed at this point.
Jeff Millet, AIA, President of AEC Technology Management of Lexington, MA, has used CDV System’s services for years while serving as Director of IT at KlingStubbins. “CDV Systems’ Revit implementation services and ‘Train the Project’ approach were critical to KlingStubbins' successful adoption of Revit. We would not have attempted to implement Revit without CDV Systems’ support.”
"When we decided to implement Revit firm-wide,” notes Steven Nutter, Graphics and Technology Director for MDS | Miller Dyer Spears, “we were looking for a partner not just to teach us the software, but to come to the table with real-world construction documentation knowledge. CDV are a team of architects and designers who are some of the best teachers I've ever come across."
CDV Systems' complete line of consulting services is currently being utilized successfully by AEC firms of all sizes on hundreds of projects worldwide. Their unique “Train the Project” approach provides a solid foundation of knowledge and skills to facilitate the implementation of Autodesk Revit firm wide.
