Virtutech(R) Presents at the International Conference on Hardware-Software Codesign and System Synthesis

SAN JOSE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—October 17, 2008— Virtutech, Inc., the leader in virtualized software development (VSD) solutions for electronic systems, today announced that principal technology specialist Ross Dickson will participate in a panel discussion entitled ESL Interoperability - Are we there yet now that TLM-2 is out? The discussion will take place during The International Conference on Hardware-Software Codesign and System Synthesis (CODES+ISSS), October 19-24, 2008 at The Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, Georgia. CODES+ISSS is part of the 2008 Embedded Systems Week.

The discussion will focus on how TLM-2 from OSCI, the most recent draft standard for transaction-level modeling further increases tool interoperability for virtual platforms containing memory-mapped busses and on-chip communication networks. In addition, the panel will discuss how OSCI provides an essential framework needed for model exchange within companies and across the intellectual property (IP) supply chain as well as the future of ESL interoperability.

The new TLM-2 standard defines the framework for building environments for architectural exploration, performance analysis and the creation of virtual platforms for software development, said Ross Dickson, principal technology specialist at Virtutech. These systems require coherent standards such as TLM-2 because of their complexity. This is a big step towards establishing a system-level modeling, design and verification ecosystem.

In June, Virtutech announced the Simics SystemC Bridge, a new interface that enables unmodified SystemC-based devices to leverage the Virtutech Simics® virtual software development (VSD) platform for full-system development. The new Simics interface provides SystemC-based devices with a scalable, top-down development environment for demanding, high performance product development. By providing a Bridge with Simics, which is the fastest commercial TLM-based simulation system on the market, Virtutech enables OEMs to expand their use of virtual platforms in the area of full system and software development while leveraging legacy, unmodified SystemC models.
