European Space Imaging (EUSI) partner, Maxar collected new satellite imagery yesterday (August 9, 2023) of the wildfires which have engulfed large areas of the Hawaiian island of Maui. Imagery in the gallery below focuses on the historic Lahaina area. Each image is paired with an archive image to show the area before the fires. We have also included some false-color infrared images that help to see the areas that have burned. As a reminder, with false-color infrared satellite images, burned areas appear in a black/grey color while healthy vegetation appears in shades of red.
