Eva Prats, co-founder of Flores & Prats Architects, is shortlisted for the Women in Architecture Award 2019

February 28, 2019 -- Shortlist for the Women in Architecture Award 2019 has been revealed: among the finalists, Eva Prats with Casal Balaguer Cultural Centre in Palma de Mallorca (Spain) by Flores & Prats and Duch-Pizà. Winner will be announced at the Architects’ Journal/Architectural Review Women in Architecture Luncheon on Friday 1st March at The Savoy in London.

Co-founder of Flores & Prats, Eva Prats is one of the finalists for the 2019 Women in Architecture Award. The shortlist, recently revealed, comprises names such as Sheila O’Donnell of O’Donnell + Tuomey, Ellen van Loon of OMA and Carme Pigem of RCR Arquitectes.

As the official statements affirms:

“The Women in Architecture awards, in association with The Architectural Review and The Architects’ Journal, are in place to inspire change in the architectural profession by celebrating great design by women architects from around the world and promoting role models for young women in practice.”

Architect and academic (she is Associate Professor of Design Studio at ETSAB since 2002 and since 2014 she is also Professor of Architecture and Urbanism – Industry Fellow at the RMIT – Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology), Eva Prats has been nominated for the Casal Balaguer Cultural Centre in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, designed by Flores & Prats with Duch- Pizà. The project consists in the rehabilitation of a baroque Palace in Palma de Mallorca as an exhibition and cultural centre. Casal Balaguer was also nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies van der Rohe Award in 2015 and was finalist at the 2016 FAD Awards.

Winner will be announced at the Architects’ Journal/Architectural Review Women in Architecture Luncheon on Friday 1st March at The Savoy in London.

Prior to that date, on Thursday February 28th, the shortlisted architects will also take part in FORUM, an event held in partnership with the RIBA to celebrate the best design by female architects from around the world, where they will present their work and join in a conversation.
