TEMECULA, Calif., Feb. 27, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Manatee County, Florida, has selected Airbus DS Communications Next-Generation 9-1-1 as-a-service offering to better serve citizens with improved public safety communications. The company will provide NG9-1-1 call routing and ESINet connectivity from their latest VESTA® NEXT Portfolio of NG9-1-1 Solutions-as-a-Service, including the VESTA® Router Service.
Located along the Gulf Coast, Manatee County is comprised of six public safety answering points (PSAPs) and serves more than 350,000 residents. The county has 45 call taking positions that process more than 260,000 emergency calls a year. The county has been an Airbus DS Communications customer since 2006.
“We are honored that Manatee County has selected Airbus DS Communications to provide the county’s emergency Next Generation call routing services and network,” said Jeff Robertson, CEO and President of Airbus DS Communications. “As a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) now in 10 states, including Florida, we are excited to provide communities such as Manatee a Next Generation end-to-end service including the network infrastructure they need for NG9-1-1.”
With the NG9-1-1 VESTA Router Service, Manatee County will be able to connect with other public safety agencies that are part of a standard, i3 compliant ESInet thus offering them greater opportunities for interagency communications. As an example, the County will be able to establish policy routing rules (Policy Routing Function - PRF) which directs call routing based on important variables, like Calltaker availability. This is critical in a community like Manatee that can experience high call volumes during peak times such as hurricane season.
Additionally, Manatee County will have 24/7 technical support, system monitoring and security with Airbus DS Communications state-of-the-art Network Security Operations Center (NSOC). Manatee will also gain a 24/7 view into their day-to-day operations via the MyVESTATM Portal where they will be able to see the status of all tickets and sort by open/ closed or by priority level for any given time period.
“We always want to be on the leading edge of integrating new technology to strengthen public safety for our community,” said Jacob Saur, Chief of 9-1-1 Emergency Communications for Manatee County’s Department of Safety. “With the addition of Airbus DS Communications‘ routing services, we will be one of the first public safety agencies in the region to have an end-to-end IP-based network and call handling solution. By working with one provider, we have the ability to streamline our public safety communications efforts and focus on what matters most – our community. ”
