Collierville, Tennessee, Modernizes Its GIS with Esri Small Government Enterprise License Agreement

Redlands, California—March 26, 2015—Without the big budgets of larger governments, towns like Collierville, Tennessee (pop. 43,000), often contend with older legacy software. To help modernize its geospatial infrastructure, Collierville signed up for the Esri Small Government Enterprise License Agreement (ELA), which helps small governments that serve populations of 100,000 or fewer update their GIS platform at an affordable price.

In 2013, Collierville signed with the Small Government ELA as part of an overall effort to modernize the town's IT infrastructure and enable more efficient collaboration between departments. In early 2014, the GIS Department began working with public works to implement a modernized approach to ditch maintenance inventory management.

"Using Collector for ArcGIS, hosted feature services, and existing mobile devices, we were able to replace an inefficient paper process with a GIS approach to public works," says Collierville Public Works supervisor John Fox. "We now monitor city assets via Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS that has a live link with field personnel."

ArcGIS Online data in the cloud includes preconfigured apps, such as Collector for ArcGIS and Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS, and other live tools to incrementally replace the dysfunctional pieces of legacy systems. With this affordable upgrade, Collierville now enjoys real-time field data collection and sophisticated asset management.
