Export and Government Relations – Supports the interests of EDA in matters pertaining to product export.
The annual EDAC meeting with the Electronics Industry Studies Class of the Eisenhower School of the National Defense University was held on March 10. The program provides training to selected officers in all branches of the military as well as individuals from selected civilian agencies and allies, who will be in top leadership positions in the coming years. Interoperability – Drives EDA standards and quality for the benefit of the industry.
The EDAC OS roadmap helps EDA vendors and customers to determine which operating systems are best for design starts. The Committee met recently to discuss upcoming updates to the roadmap, including Windows, RHEL, and SLES, as well as planning the annual OS Vendor Review meeting. Phil Kaufman Award – Selects the recipients of the prestigious EDAC/CEDA Phil Kaufman Award to honor an individual who has had a demonstrable IMPACT on the field of electronic design through contributions in Electronic Design Automation (EDA).
On November 4, 2014, EDAC and IEEE-CEDA presented the 2014 Phil Kaufman Award to Dr. Lucio Lanza, who was honored for providing innovative EDA and IP companies with exceptional vision, mentoring, and financial support. License Management & Anti-Piracy – Provides a forum for members to identify and solve software licensing and piracy problems common to EDA vendors and their customers.
The EDAC License Management and Anti-Piracy (EDAC-LMA) Committee continues to meet regularly to discuss and review items related to the licensing of our individual products. Recent discussions have centered on everyday concerns related to FlexNet Publisher, the licensing tools used by most EDA vendors, and the ongoing issue of HostID duplication. We are currently planning our annual face-to-face meeting to be held at the Design Automation Conference in June, 2015. |

Market Statistics Service – Generates the quarterly EDA revenue report available to EDAC members.
The MSS report for Q3, 2014 was released in January, showing another quarter of solid growth for the EDA industry. Overall industry revenue was up 5.7% compared to Q3, 2013. Tradeshows – Represents the interests of EDA companies at the DAC (USA), and DATE (Europe) tradeshows.
Planning is under way for the Design Automation Conference, June 7 - 11, 2015, in San Francisco. Be sure to read DAC chair Anne Cirkel's weekly blog, 52 weeks of DAC, where she provides "behind the curtain" glimpse of planning for DAC 2015. The exiciting lineup of Keynotes and SKY talks for 2015 is now available. New for 2015 is DACtv, with informative videos about DAC 2015! Date 2015 was held in Grenoble, France, March 9 - 13.
