Quantum Channel Designer fully supports PAM4 and NRZ analysis
SANTA CLARA, CA – January 27, 2015 -- Signal Integrity Software Inc. (SiSoft) is demonstrating PAM4 simulation in its Quantum Channel Designer (QCD) software at DesignCon 2015, happening at the Santa Clara Convention Center January 27-30. Designers can now perform studies to evaluate how their high speed channels perform with both PAM4 and NRZ modulation. QCD includes a built-in PAM4 technology model that users configure to meet their needs. The PAM4 model supports both high performance statistical and time-domain simulation, with fully adaptive CTLE and DFE behaviors.
“One of our key objectives with PAM4 support in QCD was to preserve the ease of use, simulation speed and automated results reporting that QCD users have come to expect,” noted Barry Katz, SiSoft’s president and CTO. “The approach we’ve taken not only preserves QCD’s existing use model, it allows designers to set up PAM4 and NRZ simulations side by side in the same simulation project and evaluate design decisions in the context of what each modulation scheme has to offer.”
SiSoft is working with systems customers and major semiconductor vendors to develop accurate PAM4 models for commercial devices. SiSoft is also working with vendors to create the necessary extensions to the IBIS-AMI specification that will make PAM4 IBIS-AMI models interoperable and portable.
