PLANO, Texas — (BUSINESS WIRE) — January 6, 2015 — Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq: DIOD), a leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality application specific standard products within the broad discrete, logic and analog semiconductor markets, today introduced a 5V single-channel load switch with programmable soft-start and discharge rate. The ultra-low on-resistance AP22800 N-channel switch reduces volt drop and power dissipation and offers continuous current handling of 6.0A, providing tighter regulation of system power delivery in ultrabooks and tablets.
Simple to program, the device’s start-up and discharge rates are set using an external capacitor and external resistor, respectively. The load switch also provides an open-drain ‘power-good’ output flag to signal target output voltage has been achieved.
The AP22800 is designed to operate from 1.5V to 5V, giving it the flexibility to support 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V and 5V system rails. Its quiescent current is also low at 21µA, making it well-suited for cell-backed distributed power systems, where power conservation is vital.
To help increase power density, the load switch is provided in the thermally efficient, low-profile DFN2116-8, which features a footprint of only 3.36mm2. Further information is available at www.diodes.com.
