Export and Government Relations – Supports the interests of EDA in matters pertaining to product export.
Are you in compliance with the US and EU Sanctions on Russia? If you are doing business in Russia, be aware that the standard technique of screening the customer name against the various prohibited parties lists is not enough. The new Sanctions are not all-encompassing, and because of this screening your customer becomes a manual and time-consuming process.
A key component of the Sanctions is the 50% rule. If a company is owned or controlled 50% or more by a listed organization, they are also Sanctioned. Several former EDA customers are now prohibited parties due to their ownership by a named organization. If you are not researching the ownership of your customer in Russia, then you are putting yourself at risk of violation.

License Management & Anti-Piracy – Provides a forum for members to identify and solve software licensing and piracy problems common to EDA vendors and their customers.
The EDAC License Management and Anti-Piracy (EDAC-LMA) Committee continues to meet regularly to discuss and review items related to the licensing of our individual products. Recent discussions have centered on everyday concerns related to FlexNet Publisher, the licensing tools used by most EDA vendors, and the ongoing issue of HostID duplication.
As we discuss these issues, we often include representatives from large enterprise customers, who are generally trying to adhere to their licensing agreements. This dialog helps us remain cognizant of our customer's concerns, and may guide us to solutions which can benefit EDA customers as well as vendors.
In addition, we invited the technology vendor Arxan to present their solutions for IP protection to the group. Vendor visits are useful for us to obtain good information; they are also a great opportunity for the vendors to present once to an audience representing multiple EDA software companies.
