Esri Canada Welcomes the Return of Chris North as Director of Technology Adoption

TORONTO – June 12, 2014 – Esri Canada, the leading provider of geographic information system (GIS) solutions, announces the return of Chris North in the role of Director, Technology Adoption.  As Esri’s ArcGIS platform expands into the cloud, the focus of this newly created position is to assist customers to leverage the benefits of cloud technology via ArcGIS Online.

“Chris played an important role in Esri Canada’s growth during his tenure from 1997 to 2009,” said John Kitchen, vice president and general manager, Esri Canada. “His talents and leadership were invaluable in the previous roles he held and departments he led, including Education (K-12), Technical Support, Marketing and Technology Strategy.  We are delighted to have him back to lend his extensive industry knowledge and experience during this key time of growth.”

With over 20 years of experience in Geomatics, Mr. North is an accomplished GIS professional who brings an in-depth understanding of enterprise GIS and technology trends to Esri Canada. Most recently, Mr. North was principal at 43 North GIS Consulting. Prior to starting his firm, Mr. North was an executive with DMTI Spatial responsible for product strategy and customer advocacy. 

Mr. North has a Master's Degree in GIS from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, an undergraduate degree in Geography from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario and is also a graduate of the Cartography Program from Sir Sanford Fleming College, Ontario.  He is the recipient of several industry awards and continues to be involved with many industry groups.  He currently holds the position of Chair, of the GIS and Cartography Advisory Board at Sir Sandford Fleming College.
