Boulder, Colo., April 10, 2014 – Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp., Boulder, Colo., will showcase its intelligence and geospatial technologies for the U.S. Intelligence Community at this year’s GEOINT 2014 Symposium, April 14-17 in Tampa, Florida.
Ball Aerospace creates software and hardware activity-based intelligence (ABI) solutions to increase the effectiveness of the collection, processing and exploitation of GEOINT, MASINT, LASINT, and Cyber intelligence.
Demonstration technologies on display at Ball Aerospace booth #3015 will include:
- Total Sight™ Flash Lidar is real-time, full motion color LIDAR (light imaging, detection and ranging) for time critical missions. Flash lidar provides enhanced 3D visualization via real-time display with flexible user perspective tools.
- Ball is demonstrating how the weather data from the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite ( VIIRS) aboard the Ball-built Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership satellite can be leveraged to complement industry capabilities such as Amazon GovCloud and Cesium to address geospatial intelligence topics like big data, cloud processing and rich interactive web apps.
- The Interactive Comprehensive Environment (ICE) tool brings together various sources of intelligence from multiple locations into a single interface, granting the user full situational awareness during a live or simulated event.
- Opticksis an open-source AGI data processing tool used to exploit MASINT data such as multi/hyperspectral, thermal-IR, SAR, and other persistent overhead scene-based data. Opticks also supports the extraction of intensity values within point cloud LiDAR data, analyzing full motion video streams, emulating 3D illuminated scenes, and processing real-time airborne hyperspectral data.
Ball Aerospace also announced this week that it had completed a series of environmental tests for DigitalGlobe’s WV-3 Satellite scheduled to launch in August: http://www.ballaerospace.com/page.jsp?page=30&id=579

The GEOINT Symposium is the preeminent event of the year for the defense, intelligence and homeland security communities. Hosted by the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF), GEOINT is the only organization dedicated to promoting the geospatial intelligence tradecraft and building a stronger GEOINT Community across industry, academia, government, professional organizations and individual stakeholders.
