New Bentley OpenPlant Road Show Presents Innovations That Deliver Operational Excellence Across the Plant Lifecycle

Presentations Are Designed for Both Owner-Operators and EPCs

EXTON, Pa. – Oct. 6, 2011 – Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for sustaining infrastructure, today announced the launch of its 2011 OpenPlant Road Show. This multi-city tour, which includes stops in Europe, the United States, Canada, and Mexico, runs through November. Bentley has recently enhanced the interoperability of its OpenPlant software for plant creation to address the full lifecycle of plant projects – whether greenfield or brownfield – and attendees to the road show will experience these new capabilities first-hand. Demonstrations show how owner-operators and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors currently using PlantSpace, PDS, PDMS, and/or AutoPLANT can now readily extract data from legacy data sources, work in 2D and 3D design and modeling tools, provide construction engineers with on-site model views via the iPad to compare against real-world progress, and cycle model information accurately back into operational systems.

The OpenPlant Road Show provides valuable insight into how operational excellence can be achieved across the plant and project lifecycles by:

Said Anne-Marie Walters, Bentley global marketing director, “Building on the adoption successes of Bentley users around the globe, our OpenPlant Road Show provides insight into the unique features and advantages of our innovative OpenPlant products. At Bentley’s Be Together conference this past May, representatives from DuPont in the U.S., Rafako in Poland, MCI in Beijing, and Instituto de Investigaciones Eléctricas in Mexico made presentations highlighting the benefits they’ve been realizing from their use of Bentley’s OpenPlant suite. In our new road show we share these users’ experiences and explain how our software facilitates the capture and integration of information about existing plant infrastructure from a variety of sources, the synchronization of information across multiple EPC processes and systems, and the validation and confirmation of information for construction and handover.”

About OpenPlant
Bentley’s OpenPlant software for plant creation is based on ISO 15926, an open data model. The OpenPlant offerings are the only commercially available products to share and meet the primary goal of the iRING user community ( www.iringug.org) – that is, to enable real-time, seamless sharing and interoperability of data and information across different organizations and systems using an internationally recognized standard.

The plant applications include Bentley OpenPlant Power PID, the only commercially available software to both read and write ISO 15926 data; Bentley OpenPlant Modeler V8i, the first 3D plant modeling software to natively use the ISO 15926 data model; Bentley OpenPlant ModelServer V8i, the first plant design server software to effectively and productively manage both files and components (ideal for globally sourced projects that are necessarily loosely “coupled”); and Bentley OpenPlant Isometrics Manager V8i, the first isometrics generation software to extract and incorporate complete intelligence from plant models, automatically and in real time. These products enhance interoperability across data formats, workflows, and plant design systems, and add to the comprehensiveness of Bentley OpenPlant – extending its ability to integrate across multiple infrastructure disciplines while improving project team collaboration and providing breakthrough value.
