Z/I Imaging Releases High-End Large Format Digital Camera System DMC II 250

(Heerbrugg/Aalen, 7 July 2011) Hexagon Geosystems’ Geospatial Solutions Division and Z/I Imaging are pleased to announce the release of the Z/I DMC II 250 camera, the newest member of the Z/I DMC II camera family. With the Z/I DMC II 140, 230 and 250,  Z/I Imaging is now offering three different camera configurations for a large variety of different airborne mapping applications.

Brand New Lens Design for Unmatched Image Quality
The DMC II 250 offers an extremely large footprint and wide swath width that reduces the number of images and stereo models required for a specific area and thus increases productivity. The unique 250 Megapixel PAN camera head includes the largest single frame CCD available in the industry, resulting in the highest geometric accuracy and radiometric quality of any large format frame airborne camera today.

Due to a brand new lens design by Carl Zeiss, Germany, the Z/I DMC II 250 with a focal length of 112mm and a 5.6 micron pixel size provides unmatched image quality and allows an extremely high resolution down to 2 cm GSD as well as high-resolution data acquisition in urban areas to overcome flying height restrictions. This, combined with a field of view of 45,5° x 38,6°, which reduces occlusion for tall buildings in urban areas, makes the DMC II 250 the ideal solution for high-resolution, high accurate stereo data acquisition, and 3D urban city models.

The New Z/I DMC II Camera Family – Revolutionary Frame Technology
The Z/I DMC II camera family is the successor of the successful Z/I DMC first generation and its unique design incorporates 4 colour sensors RGBN plus a very large single monolithic panchromatic CCD frame sensor with 140 or 250 MPixel. Together with a customized high performance optics developed by Carl Zeiss this CCD forms a single monolithic camera head, which means the stitching of smaller panchromatic CCDs is no longer required.

The Z/I DMC II camera family 140, 230 and 250 provides customers with a very high geometric accuracy and absolute precision for large scale high resolution engineering projects that has never been achieved before by any other large format digital frame camera. Whilst Z/I Imaging has delivered quite a number of Z/I DMC II 140 and 230 cameras in the first half of 2011, shipments of the Z/I DMC II 250 have commenced in June.
