Partners IES and Trelligence Deliver Integrated Sustainable Programming Software Package

Software being demoed at AIA 2011 National Convention

BOSTON — (BUSINESS WIRE) — May 11, 2011Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES), a provider of integrated performance analysis software for sustainable building design, with architectural programming, conceptual space planning and design software providers, Trelligence, today announced they have delivered on their promise to create an intelligent integration between their respective building analysis tools. The new software package, which enables sustainable programming decisions, embeds key early stage IESVE analysis tools within Trelligence Affinity software, and also enables seamless transfer of projects to the VE platform for access to IES’ full range of analytical tools.

“The ability to run building performance analysis right from the earliest programming stages will make developing green buildings an easier and faster process,” said Larry Ciscon, Ph.D., President of Trelligence. “Architects will now have unprecedented access to early stage building analysis direct from programming and early design tools. They will have the ability at their fingertips to be able to determine the most efficient floor-area-ratio long before a room layout is considered, for example.”

Architecture teams will be able to capture program data and auto-generate conceptual floor plans and stacking diagrams in Trelligence Affinity software and then run sustainable analyses using the IES VE software from within Affinity. Designers will be able to get instant feedback on climate metrics, building characteristics, energy and carbon use and heating and cooling loads:

Climate Metrics: Analysis of relevant climate metrics based on local weather data for a better understanding of which sustainable design responses to focus on.

Energy/Carbon Simulation: Whole-building annual energy/carbon figures and benchmark against the 2030 Challenge using a dynamic thermal simulation at sub-hourly time-steps.

IES Climate Energy Index: A building independent rating created by IES which provides perspective on the potential the climate has to affect the energy a building will require.

Building Metrics: Visual representation of key sustainable characteristics.

Heating & Cooling Loads: Production of indicative ASHRAE building loads figures.

“Architects are becoming increasingly involved with building analysis to marry aesthetics and performance and are looking for tools and resources to aid them,” said Dr. Don McLean, founder and CEO of IES. “With this joint software package, architects will be able to run early stage analysis long before concrete designs have been made, ensuring a well-planned and truly sustainable building.”

The software package will be available end of June, coinciding with the release of IES’s updated VE software 6.4.1. Customers that purchase the joint software packages will receive access to Trelligence Affinity and IES VE-Gaia, with the option to add access to the IES VE-Navigator for LEED if they wish. Customers will receive a discounted rate for the package.
