Weather Underground's Popular Interactive Weather Map, WunderMap(TM), Unveils New Look

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Apr 25, 2011 -- Weather Underground, the world's first online weather service, announced today the launch of a new enhanced version of its popular interactive weather map, called WunderMap™. The new design features a full screen map view designed to fit any browser and an accordion-style sidebar for the map controls that can be collapsed for an optimized viewing area.

Originally launched in 2008, WunderMap™ is a favorite among weather enthusiasts who seek the most up-to-date animated radar, storm tracks and weather data plotted and overlaid on an interactive map interface. Users can choose from a variety of weather layers, including current conditions, severe weather warnings, animated radar and satellite imagery, live webcam images, hurricane tracks, traffic conditions and wildfire conditions.

The recent Texas wildfires have brought particular relevance to WunderMap's wildfire layer to those affected. The fire layer provides current and recent wildfire information across the U.S., including smoke plume data, fire perimeters; smoke covered zones and the number of acres burned.

"We have created the most interactive weather map available, providing everyone from avid meteorologists to the casual weather observer with an interface that contains vital weather data while presented in an intuitive and reactive design," said Alan Steremberg, President and co-founder of Weather Underground. "Following the recent re-launch of wunderground.com, we feel that the new look of WunderMap™ reinforces our commitment to innovation and delivering the most dynamic weather tools for web users around the globe."
