AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 20, 2011 — Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, in partnership with Ford Motor Company, has announced that it has been recognized as a 2011 Automotive News PACE (Premiere Automotive Supplier’s Contribution to Excellence) Award Winner for the development of the Powertrain Digital Innovation and Automation (PDIA) process. Enabled by the integration capability and associativity of the company’s CATIA and SIMULIA digital solutions, PDIA automates an iterative analysis process to save time and effort while optimizing product quality and performance of powertrain solutions.
Ford’s Powertrain Digital Integration and Automation platform has the unique ability to integrate CAD geometry with CAE finite element analysis mesh and models. The CAE analysis model details are directly linked with CAD model details. Any changes in the CAD design are automatically propagated to the CAE analysis model and vice-versa, reducing the time for model creation and meshing from weeks to hours in some cases.
“I would like to congratulate our entire CAD/CAE department for winning the 2011 PACE Partnership Innovation Award together with Dassault Systèmes,” said Bob Fascetti, director, Large Gas & Diesel Engineering, Ford Motor Company. “This global innovation award, sponsored by Automotive News, recognizes the team for efficiencies it has achieved through work integrating and implementing CATIA-based CAD/CAE templates. This effort is a model of the innovative successes we can achieve in our industry through strong, enduring partnerships.”
“Congratulations to the entire team for the PACE Award recognizing their partnership in developing the Power Train CAD/CAE integration templates,” said Bob Trecapelli, director, Digital Innovation PDC, Ford Motor Company. “This work is built on the total vehicle CAD/CAE template strategy that continues to drive improved efficiencies across the entire product development process.”
In addition to its CATIA brand earning an Innovation Partnership award this year, Dassault Systèmes’ DELMIA Automation solution was a 2009 PACE Award winner in the Information Technology category.
“We are truly honored to receive this award and grateful to Ford for their partnership, which has allowed us to jointly develop this technologically advanced approach to powertrain design,” said Al Bunshaft, managing director, Americas, Dassault Systèmes. “It is gratifying to implement solutions that help our customers gain a competitive advantage.”
In its 17th year, the PACE Awards are viewed around the world as one of the automotive industry’s highest honors, recognizing suppliers for superior innovation, technological advancement, and business performance. Winners were chosen following an extensive review by industry, academic and business leaders, including a comprehensive written application and site visit. The competition is open to suppliers that contribute products, processes, materials or services directly to manufacture cars or trucks.
The world’s leading vehicle manufacturers rely on Dassault Systèmes PLM solutions comprised of CATIA for 3D design, DELMIA for digital manufacturing and production, ENOVIA for collaboration, 3DVIA for online lifelike experiences, and SIMULIA for realistic simulation. The company’s software and services allow businesses of any size to digitally define and simulate products, as well as the process and resources required to manufacture, maintain and recycle them to improve the environment.
