New Dell Precision T1600 Desktop Workstation

April 5, 2011 - Today the Dell Precision T1600 tower workstation is available to customers worldwide. Bringing performance and peace of mind with exceptional value, the T1600 combines professional grade processors and graphics with ISV certifications in an easy-to-use, tool-less chassis.

The Dell Precision T1600 is the next generation mini-tower workstation that comes at an affordable starting price of $829 USD. The T1600 is for customers who use professional software applications such as AutoCAD or Pro/Engineer and need the performance and reliability that only a workstation with certified applications can offer. When customers upgrade to a workstation from a desktop or whitebox system, they will be surprised at the big increase in performance from professional grade graphics, processors and ISV certifications for not a big increase in price.

The T1600 now comes equipped with Intel’s latest Sandy Bridge architecture, offering Second Generation Core or Xeon processors. In our Performance Lab, we have seen up to 24% performance increase over our previous generation T1500, which was called out by CRN as “faster than any other production desktop PC we've tested”, when comparing similarly priced processors. Higher performance can help increase productivity thus reducing overall project time. For remote manageability, we also offer Intel’s vPro technology on the Xeon based processors.

Graphics options have also been expanded to provide more configurability so customers can design the perfect system for their needs. For customers who are focused on 2D models the T1600 offers Intel Integrated HD graphics and customers who need more power for larger 3D models can opt for the NVIDIA Quadro 2000.

The T1600 chassis is now “tool less”, meaning serviceability is quick and easy because no tools are needed to replace or upgrade common items. The side panel opens easily with an easy open latch. Additionally, hard drives require no screws to install so making upgrades is a breeze and doesn’t sacrifice durability or reliability.

In addition, the T1600 offers an optional high-efficiency power supply option and configurations that meet Energy Star 5.0 requirements which means you consume less power, which is better for the environment and your bottom line.

Finally, the Dell Precision T1600 has greatly expanded the number of certified applications to include Creo Elements Pro and Direct, AutoCAD, Solid Works, NX I-deas, NX and Teamcenter and many others. This offers customers using these applications the peace of mind that their system has been extensively tested and is supported by both Dell and the ISV.

We are excited about the new features and performance of the Dell Precision T1600 and know it’s going to be a great addition to the Dell Precision family!
