COLOGNE, Germany & PLANO, Texas — (BUSINESS WIRE) — March 9, 2011 — Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that Viessmann, an international leader in the production of heating systems, selected Siemens PLM Software’s technology to enhance process efficiency and increase productivity.
Viessmann will use Teamcenter® software, the world’s most widely used digital lifecycle management solution; and NX™ software, a comprehensive digital product development solution to set up an integral design and development PLM structure to support its future growth strategy.
Until a few years ago, Viessmann’s strategy was focused on organic growth through innovation and globalization. Due to the structural changes in heating technology towards renewable energies, this strategy was expanded and smaller-scale specialists were acquired.
“Our growth strategy enabled us to extend the reach of our technological basis at the right speed, and to react promptly to changing market requirements,” said Dr. Harald Dörnbach, CEO of Viessmann IT Service GmbH. “However, the acquisitions, while successful, created a mixed IT landscape comprising of a number of systems. With the switch to Teamcenter and NX, we are replacing an older infrastructure, and at the same time establishing a homogeneous, global IT environment to help deliver better processes and increased productivity.”
Viessmann selected Siemens PLM Software’s solutions following an extensive benchmarking process, taking into account all design and data management functions. As part of the evaluation process, CAD data was migrated from old records and from numerous acquired companies to test the openness of the solution. In the Data Management unit, the company conducted in-depth checks to test the installation of the solution. Siemens PLM Software’s solutions topped products from well-known competitors in the test trials and were the clear winners. The success in the benchmarking process further solidified an already established relationship with the customer.
“Siemens PLM Software is committed to helping leading customers, like Viessmann, as they evolve their business model to meet market demands,” said Urban August, senior vice president and managing director, Germany, Siemens PLM Software. “Siemens PLM Software’s technology enables companies to consolidate design and development on a single open platform and provides a scalable solution that can grow with the company and enhance innovation every step of the way.”
Teamcenter promotes innovation and productivity by bonding people and processes through a single source for product and process knowledge. The extensive portfolio of proven digital lifecycle management solutions in Teamcenter is based on an open architecture enabling an end-to-end PLM strategy.
NX is a leading solution for computer-aided design (CAD), manufacturing (CAM) and engineering analysis (CAE), and is used throughout the world in the development of highly sophisticated products.
