OpenGeo and Pacific Geodata Announce Partnership to Support Geospatial Users

Pacific Geodata to become official reseller of the OpenGeo Suite Enterprise Edition.

New York, New York, February 18, 2011 - Pacific Geodata, a GIS mapping and analysis firm located in Yountville, California today announced a reseller agreement with OpenGeo, a global leader in open source geospatial solutions.  Through this partnership, Pacific Geodata will be able to offer the OpenGeo Suite Enterprise Edition to its clients.

The OpenGeo Suite Enterprise Edition is used by organizations worldwide to serve maps and data through web applications, mobile devices, and desktop clients.  Its powerful stack of tested, integrated, and supported geospatial components includes PostGIS, GeoServer, OpenLayers, GeoWebCache, and GeoExt.

Located in the heart of the Napa Valley, Pacific Geodata (PGD) has a strong background in mapping and analysis solutions for agricultural producers.  In a region of wine producers, they use GIS tools to compile and extract valuable information relating to microclimates and cooling patterns in local vineyards.  PGD helps companies combine the power of commercial GIS software with open source solutions to extend the limited functionality of basic commercial GIS platforms for a fraction of the cost.

"Partnering with OpenGeo enables us to provide powerful open source web mapping technologies to our clients," said Matt Lamborn of PGD. "This partnership also provides a small firm such as ours with the resources and know-how to implement online, internet-based mapping applications."

Chris Holmes, President of OpenGeo, added, "We are excited to work with Pacific Geodata. Their experience creating open source geospatial tools for the agriculture sector will help us illuminate the needs of an important group of end-users."
