Extra speed at Autosport International with WorkNC V21 (SESCOI)

January 3, 2011 - Sescoi will be launching Version 21 of its WorkNC CADCAM software at the Autosport International show, at the NEC Birmingham, on 13th and 14th January. Located in the French Pavilion on stand E127, visitors will be able to see the up to ten fold calculation speed improvements in WorkNC V21, produced by its new parallel computing algorithms.

Autosport is the UK’s showcase for the motorsport and high performance industry and brings together a complete range of technologies for this sector. WorkNC is widely used in motorsport, and in the UK is used by companies such as ARRK Europe in Nuneaton to develop carbon fiber patterns and tools for F1; Bentley Motors in its styling studio; and Gordon Murray Design for the development of its T.25 City car and its iStream manufacturing process.

The implementation of parallel computing in the WorkNC V21 CADCAM software system will enable engineers to take advantage of the power of the latest multi-processing computers. The complex forms, precision, and the demand for very short delivery times required in motorsport, will benefit particularly from the new capabilities in the software. Computing several threads simultaneously reduces the programming and calculation times for the most complicated parts, achieving speed improvements of up to 10 times.

As well as parallel computing, WorkNC V21 includes a new Global Finishing strategy that combines Z-Level Finishing and Optimized Z-Level Finishing, while ensuring constant climb milling. The advantages for users include improved simplicity, elimination of wasted and duplicated moves, and faster machining. The new version now supports the machining of undercut conditions - this enables more of a part to be cut in 3-axis and improves the surface finish for 5-axis machining operations.

Canonical tools can be used in the new software, making it possible to machine with faster feedrates and achieve improved quality, while new capabilities for editing toolpaths without recalculation significantly cut programming times.

The standard 5-axis routines in WorkNC have been rationalized from 12 down to six, with a standard dialog box to make programming even easier. Additionally, new rules based curve entities allow for interactive modification of the tool orientation. Auto 5, the automatic 5-axis programming in WorkNC, has new functions to save individual machine configurations and will soon have automatic collision checking to add to its collision avoidance functionality.

WorkNC V21 CADCAM brings motorsport manufacturers new features that can significantly cut lead times and achieve high quality results with ease, making it a highly productive tool for the industry.

Visitors to Sescoi’s stand at the Autosport show will also be able to view demonstrations of Sescoi’s full range of productivity solutions; the WorkPLAN Enterprise ERP system for custom manufacturing, MyWorkPLAN, easy to use job shop software and WorkXPlore 3D, a powerful, high speed CAD viewer.
