PCI Geomatics Awarded Contract for its GeoImaging Accelerator Aerial (GXL-A) Technology

Richmond Hill, Ontario – December 09, 2010 – PCI Geomatics, a world leading developer of geo-imaging software and systems, has announced it has been awarded a contract to deliver a GeoImaging Accelerator (GXL) Aerial processing system to an undisclosed aerial surveying firm.

The GXL Aerial system will allow the customer to orthorectify and mosaic thousands of UltraCam images per day through the power of distributed processing that leverages Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). The adoption of this technology will result in significantly increased throughput and reduced production costs for this customer. GXL Aerial was developed in cooperation with Microsoft’s Photogrammetry Division, Vexcel Imaging GmbH, to extend the UltraMap workflow and create ortho-mosaic data from level 3 UltraCam data.

The adoption of PCI’s GXL technology by the aerial surveying market demonstrates the value that this technology brings to customers. PCI Geomatics has delivered other GXL systems to customers in North America, Europe and Asia .

Brad Schmidt, VP of Sales and Marketing at PCI Geomatics commented on the announcement: “We are pleased to have won this important contract for our GXL-Aerial technology, which the customer ultimately selected due to its high degree of automation, as well as its performance and throughput capability. We believe that this win speaks to the state of the art products developed by PCI Geomatics, and the value that our GXL Aerial technology brings to our customers."

“It’s great to see the adoption of GXL Aerial, as together with PCI Geomatics we have developed a leading edge product that extends our UltraMap offering,” said Alexander Wiechert, Business Director of Microsoft and Managing Director for Vexcel Imaging GmbH. “We have no doubt that our clients will appreciate having a streamlined, continuous workflow”.
