The Dealmap Unveils First-Ever Mobile Map View of Black Friday Sales

Company Makes Finding Nearby Holiday Sales Easy by Geo-Coding Black Friday Deals

MENLO PARK, Calif., Nov. 23, 2010 — (PRNewswire) — The Dealmap® ( http://www.thedealmap.com), the most comprehensive source for consumers to find and share local deals, today announced it has categorized and mapped more than 165,000 unique Black Friday product offers at more than 52,000 retail locations so that consumers can easily find nearby holiday sales.  The Dealmap's Android and iPhone apps are the first and only mobile applications that make use of location awareness to display nearby Black Friday deals on a map.

Unlike existing mobile applications and websites that typically just display reprinted Black Friday ads or general brand-level listings, The Dealmap has geo-coded these offers so people can quickly view nearby deals on a map.  Additionally, people using The Dealmap's mobile apps will receive a notification if there are Black Friday sales near their location.   A recent research study underscored the value of these unique features, revealing that finding store locations is the most valuable location-based feature among mobile users, and also noting that a third of respondents would be willing to travel more than 5 miles to redeem a retail offer they received on their mobile device.(1)

The Dealmap mobile apps and website give people the most comprehensive view of nearby local deals, including both daily deals and local deals at national chains.  In only three months, The Dealmap's apps have been installed by more than 300,000 people and have received a number of accolades including being named one of Gizmodo's "Apps of the Week."

"People love finding great deals, especially during the holidays, and we're helping to make that easier this holiday season," said Jennifer Dulski, co-founder and chief executive officer of The Dealmap.   "Our recent work indexing and geo-coding Black Friday also enhances our position as the leading source of local and daily deals, on both mobile devices and the web."

Helping Local Businesses Promote Black Friday Deals

In addition to helping consumers find holiday deals, The Dealmap is also enabling local businesses to promote their holiday offers to shoppers.  Businesses can use the company's deal submit tool to upload an offer and add the tag "Black Friday" to have it appear in the Black Friday category on The Dealmap mobile applications and its website.  Businesses can submit offers directly to The Dealmap at: http://www.thedealmap.com/submit.
