November 03, 2010 -- Smart Data Strategies, Inc. (SDS), a leading provider of GIS software and services, announced today that it has extended its long standing relationship with the Cook County Assessor’s Office through the formation of a ground breaking public – private partnership for the distribution of property related data.
Cook County, having nearly 1,800,000 parcels, has the second largest population in the country and is home to nearly half of all Illinois residents. Portions of the valuable property data set maintained by the county have had very limited distribution in the past. The partnership with SDS opens up many new distribution channels thus providing a model that increases revenue for the county while decreasing the burden of data order fulfillments.
“Our partnership with SDS shows the Cook County Assessor’s Office continues to find innovative ways to generate revenue for the County in challenging economic times,” said Michael A. Stone, chief deputy assessor.
While the tax roll data has had limited distribution by the county, this is the first time in history that the GIS parcel data is being distributed. Although unofficial copies of the data created in years past by 3rd parties may be in circulation, the data being distributed by SDS is the only authoritative source data making it the most accurate and current data available for Cook County, Illinois.
In addition to bulk data distribution, Smart Data Strategies has partnered with CourthouseUSA™ “the authoritative source for property information” to provide internet access to the Cook County data via a user friendly map based viewer.
