Yandex, Russia's Top Internet Company, Chooses Digital Element's Geolocation Technology to Improve Precision of Location-Based Information

ATLANTA, Oct. 19 — (PRNewswire) — Digital Element, the leading provider of IP Intelligence solutions, today announced that Yandex, Russia's largest Internet company and operator of the country's largest search engine, Yandex.ru, has chosen its NetAcuity® IP Intelligence technology to provide Russian-speaking users in the United States and Canada with the most relevant information and responses based on their location.

Offering a myriad of services and managing the world's seventh largest search engine, Yandex's goal is to provide information and answer user questions with pertinent information, regardless of user location.  As such, accurately identifying visitor location is a key priority, considering the fact that Yandex's user base -- consisting of more than 50 million unique visitors per month -- continues to grow in Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and across the globe.

"Due to the geographical diversity of our users and the fact that many of our services, such as search and maps, provide location-based information, we needed the most accurate data to ensure our users receive the most precise delivery of geo-dependent content," said Elvira Galeeva, Project Manager, Advertising Technologies Department, Yandex.

Independently verified to be more than 99.99 percent accurate at a country level and 95 percent accurate at a city level worldwide, Digital Element's IP Intelligence and geotargeting technology provides information such as geographic location (country, region, state, city and postcode), connection type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), proxy information, and more.

According to the Pew Research Center, Internet users are extremely positive about search engines and the experiences they have when searching the Internet. They tend to settle quickly on a single search engine and then stick with it, rather than switching as search technology evolves or comparing results from different search systems. Some 44 percent of searchers regularly use just one engine, and another 48 percent use just two or three. Nearly half of searchers use a search engines no more than a few times a week.

"Because of its focus on innovative services both at home and abroad, Yandex is well positioned to continue its dominance in the Russian Internet market and to expand its presence across the globe," said Frank Bobo, Vice President, Digital Element. "We continue to see growth of our worldwide footprint, and the customer partnership we now have with Yandex indicates more global organizations continue to recognize the value that Digital Element provides with its accurate and reliable data sets."
