Pitney Bowes Business Insight Road Show Spotlights the Future of Location Intelligence Solutions

Series of Customer Events Provides Insight into PBBI’s Strategic Vision for Location Intelligence; Sessions Provide Comprehensive Information on New Offerings

TROY, N.Y.—AUGUST 9, 2010 — Pitney Bowes Business Insight (PBBI) today announced the kick off of a series of  events that showcase its location intelligence suite. The four-hour events will highlight how Pitney Bowes Business Insight’s newest offerings make it easier for customers to access, use and share geographic data via off-premise solutions and the cloud. The sessions will focus on PBBI’s newest products, including MapInfo® Stratus™, a Software-as–a-Service (SaaS)-based solution for publishing and sharing location-based data and services, and MapInfo Professional® v10.5, the latest version of the company’s flagship application for business and mapping analysis. Attendees can learn about the products, view demos and discuss best practices.

Pitney Bowes Business Insight will also discuss the company’s focus on providing data and software utilizing a Software-as-a-Service model. Discussions will spotlight the benefit of SaaS and cloud computing, such as easier access to data and enhanced ability to share maps and geospatial data across the enterprise. Accessing information via SaaS or the cloud frees up organizations to focus on analyzing location-based data and sharing insights rather than searching for data and creating maps.

Product highlights include:

  • MapInfo Professional v10.5 enables organizations to more fully interact with the cloud by publishing maps to it and access data from it. MapInfo Professional v10.5 also includes integration with Bing Maps and increased support for key industry standards, such as the OGC Catalog Services Web interface, and new publishing features.
  • MapInfo Stratus is a SaaS-based solution for publishing and sharing location-based data and services. It allows customers to push maps and data created in a desktop application, such as MapInfo Professional, to a cloud-based interactive mapping environment.
  • Pitney Bowes Business Insight’s location-based Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) offering. The Geosk™ Platform provides access to a comprehensive data catalog that includes both free and fee-based geospatial data from Pitney Bowes Business Insight as well as content from third-party data providers.

“Since the majority of an organization’s data is location-based, it’s critical that companies can fully leverage this asset when making critical business decisions. Such data can provide deeper insights on customers, resources and opportunities,” said Jon Winslow, Global Portfolio director, Location Intelligence, Pitney Bowes Business Insight. “We are committed to working closely with our customers to provide them with solutions, both on- and off-premise, and the location-based data that best suits their business needs.”
