Dassault Systemes and EskoArtwork Partner to Streamline Packaging and Label Management

New Partnership Will Make it Easier for Companies to Reduce Artwork Creation from Months to Days

LOWELL, Mass. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — July 12, 2010Dassault Systèmes (DS) (Paris: DSY) (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, today announced that EskoArtwork, a global supplier and integrator of innovative solutions for packaging, commercial printing and professional publishing, has joined the DS Software Community Program. By combining EskoArtwork’s expertise with Dassault Systèmes’ long history in 3D and product lifecycle management, the two companies will develop and sell innovative solutions to the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry to make packaging and label management easier and more efficient. The two companies have also recently engaged with Procter & Gamble, the world’s largest consumer goods company, to help develop a new artwork and packaging solution to optimize and simplify their artwork and packaging process.

Dassault Systèmes’ ENOVIA V6 CPG Accelerator will be integrated with EskoArtwork’s Dynamic Content module for Adobe Illustrator, enabling users to edit and maintain label copy outside of Illustrator. By joining these two solutions, users can now create a single version of the truth, helping them to collaboratively manage all aspects of a label, from language and artwork copy management through to mapping and compliance. Users can auto populate and publish label content directly to Adobe Illustrator, slashing the time required for artwork creation from months down to as little as a day. Companies will also be able to manage brand artwork on a global basis, providing greater flexibility for regional & local changes to be incorporated more efficiently.

“The implications of this joint solution are significant. This work is currently managed through a highly fragmented and piecemeal process, either through third party providers or internal resources. For global companies managing this process from end to end is significantly more complex for reasons such as language requirements and regional compliance issues,” said Ray Wodar, director of CPG Industry Solutions, Dassault Systèmes. “By partnering with EskoArtwork, this joint solution will eliminate the inherent complexities and enable global, real-time collaboration while significantly reducing the time it takes to complete each project.”

In addition, the integration of EskoArtwork’s Web Center Viewer, a powerful electronic artwork e-proofing tool, with DS’s ENOVIA Collaboration Platform and the CPG Accelerator, will enable users to virtually proof all aspects of labels and packaging. This approach makes it easier to manage and edit logos and graphics while avoiding the need for multiple hardcopy proofs, which, in turn, results in less courier and transportation costs. The combination of the ENOVIA CPG Accelerator and EskoArtwork’s ArtiosCAD for Secondary Packaging Design solution will also facilitate greater packaging accuracy by ensuring that the design process is seamlessly incorporated into the overall product lifecycle.

“By pairing our domain knowledge in artwork with Dassault Systèmes’ industry-specific PLM solutions, we’re able to help customers tie their creative work directly into the product lifecycle,” explained Dieter Janout, VP Global Business Group, EskoArtwork. “This enhances collaboration across organizations, helping to decrease time spent on the artwork process and accelerate product development cycles.”
