DBx GEOMATICS takes part in the centennial of the Canadian Navy

Gatineau, July 7, 2010 – The Canadian Navy has teamed up with Canadian Geographic to celebrate its centennial in 2010. For this occasion, DBx GEOMATICS has developed a multimedia web application with its solution CartoVista to show the ships according to the communities they represent.

This interactive and well-documented website is full of pictures, maps, timelines, facts, anecdotes and the histories of 372 Navy-christened ships.

The user-friendly interface enables visitors to get a lot of information about the ships and the Navy in a few clicks. From HMCS Agassiz to HMCS Yukon, users can locate a spot on the interactive map and click on it to find out all about the ship that shares its name (pictures, badge, detailed info, service). The names of each ship are explained and documented and all the vessels are classified by categories (provinces, First Nations, regions, overseas). A search function is also available. The user can finally find information on the anniversary and the partners involved in the organization of the events around this celebration.

This project developed with the last features of CartoVista actively contributes to showcase the Canadian heritage. In this field, it opens new opportunities for DBx GEOMATICS.
