Colortrac Inc to exhibit advanced SmartLF GIS map scanning solutions at the ESRI World-Wide User Conference

June 18, 2010 — Colortrac, the leading developer of affordable, professional wide format scanning and imaging solutions, will showcase a comprehensive range of advanced high definition SmartLF large format map and technical document scanners at the ESRI World-Wide User Conference in San Diego, California, the world's biggest Geographic Information Systems (GIS) event, (14-16 July 2010, Booth, # 616 / 618).

Now widely recognized as the most accomplished innovator developing large format scanners today, Colortrac's range of SmartLF wide format scanners and scanning solutions software sport the longest list of credible productivity benefits available worldwide. The ESRI World-Wide User Conference provides Colortrac Inc with the opportunity to show the GIS community how the many advanced features and benefits available in SmartLF large format map and technical document scanning solutions make demanding GIS professionals more productive by bringing better, higher quality scanned images into the GIS dataset more quickly.

Colortrac's SmartLF large format scanning solutions cover the full range of popular GIS map and drawing sizes, ranging from 24" and 28" (A1 / ARCH D-size) through to 40" and 42" (A0 / ARCH E-size) media widths and wider, even accommodating documents up to 56" (OVERSIZE), the widest scan width available today. In the critical area of high quality scanning resolution, Colortrac's CIS (contact image sensor) map and technical document scanners offer a practical 600dpi optical resolution while Colortrac CCD (charge coupled device) color graphics scanners offer 1200dpi optical resolution, the highest available in their class.

Highlight products on display will be two large format scanners rated "BEST IN CLASS" by BERTL, (Business Equipment Research and Testing Laboratory), an authoritative and independent US business product evaluator. Colortrac's best selling SmartLF Ci 40 technical imaging and SmartLF Gx+ 42 graphics scanners were also rated "OUTSTANDING" by BERTL in separate product evaluations. Colortrac is now the first and only scanner manufacturer to receive a "BEST IN CLASS" award from BERTL for both its CIS and CCD imaging technology, an achievement which cements Colortrac's claim to be the leading innovator in large format scanning.

Other Colortrac products to be seen at the ESRI World-Wide User Conference will be the genuinely unique SmartLF Ci range of 24" and 40" scanners, the only large format scanners available today which eject scanned documents at the front of the scanner, not out the back as in every other make and model. Importantly, these SmartLF Ci scanners have the smallest, most compact footprint in the 24" to 40" document scanning class. At a fraction of the size of similar models, the SmartLF Ci series' combination of a small footprint and front-in, front-out paper feed gives it the very practical ability to be used anywhere, anytime, a benefit which is unavailable in alternative bigger desktop products which are too big and too awkward to fit on the average office desk and whose rear-exiting media requires that the desktop behind the scanner be cleared every time before use.

SmartLF scanners are available in three upgradeable models. Capable of scanning in monochrome, grayscale and color and supported by high speed USB 2.0 and Ethernet 1000 connectivity, the SmartLF Ci and Gx+ range of large format scanners offer GIS professionals fast, accurate and affordable map and technical document scanning and copying to any workstation or printer across a network. All SmartLF Ci and Gx+ scanners use state-of-the-art, instant-on, long-life LED illumination with true ENERGY STAR compliance for certified energy savings. Colortrac's professional color graphics CCD systems are now a generation ahead of rival systems whose slower, older products continue to use environmentally unfriendly, replaceable fluorescent tubes that lack true ENERGY STAR compliance and which need a long warm-up time in order to ensure true color stability.

All SmartLF scanners will be demonstrated running Colortrac's SmartLF All-in-One Software, (supplied with every SmartLF scanner), as well as the optional and more powerful ScanWorks (for scanning technical documents and maps) and CopySmart (professional color capture and scan to copy software). ScanWorks and CopySmart both have acclaimed productivity features which make them popular as productivity solutions for professionals. Among these benefits are ScanWorks "scan once, edit many" feature which allows documents to be scanned just once and edited many times, unlike rival systems which need to scan the document every time it is to be edited. When used with industry leading thresholding to restore dirty documents, the ability to work in real time greatly increases the ScanWorks user's speed of productivity when capturing top quality scanned images.

All Colortrac scanners have the option to use a floorstand or a Universal Repro Stand (URS) to create a professional scan to copy workstation using popular wide format printers, the exception being the SmartLF Gx+ 56 which has a floorstand but no URS support. GIS users at the ESRI World-Wide User Conference will see a new Colortrac URS on display. This combines a low-cost SmartLF wide format scanner and any popular wide format printer sitting inside the URS' footprint with easy to use scanning and copying software. All popular makes of Canon and HP wide format printers are supported with dedicated printer drivers. The URS seats a SmartLF wide format scanner above the printer at four adjustable scanner heights. The URS includes a PC mounting tray, an adjustable arm with an industry standard bracket for attaching flat screen, as well as a generously-sized worktop surface for a keyboard and a mouse. The URS' many adjustable options create a practical and ergonomic MFP (multi-function peripheral) workstation for maximum operator comfort and high productivity.

Finally, Colortrac Inc will be showing a new range of document carrier sheets available in tubes of five covering two sizes, A1 / ARCH D and A0 / ARCH E, either with a black or white backing sheet. Hinged on the short side for easy fitting of fragile or damaged drawings, these protective document wallets will safeguard dry, ageing and or valuable or sensitive documents during the scanning process.

"The ESRI World-Wide User Conference provides Colortrac Inc with the best opportunity to show GIS users how advanced the range of SmartLF large format map and technical document scanning solutions are and the superior benefits which they offer to GIS professionals" said Malcolm Lane, president of Colortrac Inc. "Colortrac's attendance at the ESRI 2010 World-Wide User Conference, the fourth time in recent years that it has attended this popular and important international GIS event, emphasizes the value which Colortrac attaches to ESRI as the key player in the GIS software industry and to its many global professional users."

"As an ESRI Complementary Technology Provider, Colortrac's aim is to enhance the ESRI users' GIS productivity workflow through a choice of "best fit" wide format imaging technologies" said Peter de Winter Brown, Colortrac Sales and Marketing Director. "Colortrac's growing range of advanced SmartLF wide format scanners and scanning and copying solutions software offers GIS professionals the best choices in affordable professional GIS and map scanning solutions."
