SGI to Sell and Distribute Broader Line of LSI Enterprise Storage Products
FREMONT, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — May 13, 2010 — SGI (NASDAQ: SGI), a global leader in HPC and data center solutions, today announced a global initiative with LSI Corporation to expand its SGI® InfiniteStorage products with compelling new configurations powered by LSI. This expanded relationship will make available a wider breadth of LSI’s leading storage technology through direct and indirect sales force.
These new storage solutions include entry-level and mid-range enterprise RAID-based storage solutions with comprehensive interconnect support for iSCSI, Fibre Channel, InfiniBand and SAS. These solutions are application ready for the Oracle Database, VMware® and Microsoft® enterprise software, including SQL Server, Exchange and SharePoint®. These new storage solutions will have heterogeneous support with the flexibility to tightly integrate with SGI compute line environments, operate as stand-alone storage and integrate into other OEM compute lines.
“This extension of our relationship with LSI will deliver SGI customers and partners superior storage solutions that are built on open standards,” said Mark J. Barrenechea, SGI CEO. “This global initiative will enable our partners to better address their rapidly expanding data storage needs with the best solutions from SGI and LSI.”
A key element of the expanded relationship is to empower the SGI® Global Channel Network to bring leading SGI and LSI technology to customers. SGI partners will have access to SGI and LSI product information through the SGI channel portal, including solution definitions, pricing, white papers, use cases, product demos, targeted sales and marketing collateral, and competitive analyses. This portal will enable partners to arm themselves with the information they need to be successful in their core markets.
“We are pleased to join with SGI to deliver LSI storage system technology to SGI customers and channel partners globally,” said Phil Bullinger, executive vice president and general manager, Engenio Storage Group, LSI. “Providing partners with product choice and interoperability is key to driving business growth and gaining the competitive edge.”
The SGI channel website has been expanded with LSI product information that provides partners a single point of access for comprehensive resources. LSI will provide training materials and field marketing resources to the SGI channel as part of the expanded relationship.
“SGI is bringing to market a powerful range of differentiated LSI storage solutions that are important for many clients. It is essential to have performance solutions delivered in a format that is completely interoperable in a heterogeneous compute environment,” said John Fliss, president and CEO, Arcscale. “These expanded channel products, advanced through an award-winning channel program, ensure profitable return to partners – it is a solid win for the channel. Arcscale looks forward to participating in the SGI Channel Storage initiative.”
