NAVTEQ Focuses on Transport and Logistics Solutions at the National Private Trucking Council (NPTC) Conference

NAVTEQ Transport™ provides accurate truck-specific attributes and content for routing, fleet optimization and navigation

Cincinnati – April 19, 2010 – NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising around the world, is showcasing its unique products that support the Transport and Logistics industry, as well as various customer applications at the National Private Trucking Council (NPTC) Conference (Booth #128) in Cincinnati, OH on April 18 – 20, 2010.

NAVTEQ continues to focus on high quality navigable data for the Transport and Logistics industry. NAVTEQ Transport provides a foundation for developing a wide range of solutions to support fleet management companies. Specifically designed to optimize the efficiency of turn-by-turn navigation for trucks and other large vehicles, NAVTEQ Transport data includes detailed road attributes such as physical restrictions, legal restrictions and HAZMAT warnings. NAVTEQ also offers Truck POI, which provides value added points of interest (POI) specific to the transport industry.

Demonstrations from key transport and logistics customers will be delivered over the course of the show:

Maptuit: Maptuit will demonstrate their NaviGo Advanced GPS Navigation solution that operates seamlessly on existing telematics solutions. Every fleet is looking for ways to reduce costs, and NaviGo has proven time and again a very strong ROI by significantly reducing miles, fuel usage, and accidents. NaviGo was designed from the ground up to route class 8 trucks based on each fleet’s unique routing preferences. To meet the needs of the most demanding customers in the industry, Maptuit has worked with NAVTEQ for its base map data.

Telogis: Telogis will display their geospatial mapping SDK and enterprise location based applications including Telogis Route and Telogis Fleet. Telogis Route is a powerful, scalable tool for both strategic and tactical resource planning. The product is a completely web-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application that is accessed through a web browser. Telogis Route has an “immediate feedback on costs” feature which allows evaluation of impact on users’ bottom line before committing to change of plan. Telogis Route accounts vehicle fixed and variable costs, fuel costs, regular and overtime labor costs.

Telogis Fleet is a reliable, scalable and comprehensive fleet management solution that improves operations, asset utilization and driver safety with GPS software that scales to fleets of all sizes. Users of Telogis Fleet reduce labor and fuel costs by minimizing idle time and total mileage while getting the same quantity of work done.

Rand McNally: Rand McNally will be exhibiting at the 2010 NTPC Conference and demonstrate the recently announced IntelliRoute® TND™ 700, a line extension of the award-winning IntelliRoute® TND™ 500: a truck navigation device using NAVTEQ map data, and proprietary Rand McNally trucking content. Tested extensively by professional drivers on the road, the Rand McNally IntelliRoute® TND™ 700 unit includes truck-specific routing, hardware designed for in-cab use, and a suite of specialized Trucker Business Tools to assist drivers in managing the business aspects of trucking. Rand McNally also will be showcasing MileMaker® Global software, providing standardized world-wide distance and routing. MileMaker® Global utilizes NAVTEQ map data in addition to Rand McNally’s patented routing calculations.

“We are excited to be exhibiting at the 2010 NTPC conference and showcase our innovative products along with our customers that provide solutions to advance the transport and logistics industries.” said Roy Kolstad, vice president, Enterprise Americas, NAVTEQ. “With NAVTEQ Transport, fleet operators and drivers can generate more efficient and safe routes for their vehicles and lower operating costs. The data can be combined with other NAVTEQ content – Driver Alert; NAVTEQ Traffic™; Curvature, slope and Height; Extended Lanes; Fuel Types – to produce a complete truck package.”
