Quova, the premier
IP Geolocation data provider, announced today a newly minted agreement with location services infrastructure company,
SimpleGeo. Quova will make its high-quality, IP Geolocation data available via the cloud-based SimpleGeo Marketplace. This agreement allows developers around the world to more easily and affordably access Quova’s data to add geo-aware features to applications.
“IP Geodata is the ‘Rosetta Stone’ that makes all other data intelligible,” said Marie Alexander, CEO, Quova. “In the ever-expanding Geolocation ecosystem Quova’s data is a foundational element, so we are pleased to make this data more easily accessible to the
application development community through our partnership with SimpleGeo.”
“After discovering Quova’s offerings, it became obvious that we needed to include their IP Geolocation data in our ready-to-use location infrastructure,” said Matt Galligan, co-founder and CEO of SimpleGeo. “Quova’s data will enable developers using SimpleGeo to locate their users easily, regardless of access to GPS or WiFi data. The partnership just made sense.”
Real-World Quova
There are a total of 5.39
IP addresses per capita in the US, more than 1.5 billion addresses total. Quova allows them to be utilized to their fullest potential by working with companies to localize content for Web visitors. By simply knowing the IP address of an incoming user, Quova can not only identify their geographic location, but also can also decipher details such as connection method, i.e. DSL or Dial-up, and highlight whether the user is accessing the site via a proxy server. Any suspicious IP credentials can be flagged and analyzed and the visitor permitted or denied access depending on the severity of the threat. Companies including
Continental Airlines,
BBC News,
F5 and
Expedia use Quova’s data.
