The City and County of San Francisco Selects AssetWorks’ Fleet Management Software Solution

The City and County of San Francisco Fleet Management Department to Utilize FleetFocus™ to Manage a Diverse Fleet of over 6,000 Vehicles and Equipment Units

WAYNE, Pa. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — March 24, 2010AssetWorks, a leading provider of fleet management software and automated fuel management systems, announced today that it has signed a contract with the City and County of San Francisco to deploy its fleet management software application.

The City and County of San Francisco Fleet Management Department provides supportive services to the over 70 city departments that serve San Francisco’s more than 800,000 residents and is fully financed by internal service funds. The department is responsible for the maintenance, fueling services, motor pool, alternative fuel program, and vehicle replacement planning for the combined fleet of approximately 6,000 units. Housed in four locations with 120 employees, the department completes nearly 34,000 work orders annually.

In 2009 the city began a search for a comprehensive citywide fleet-specific management information system to better collect data and track assets; to monitor costs and evaluate trends; to analyze statistics and generate reports; to enable client departments access to database and reports; and to facilitate planning, improve efficiencies and reduce costs. After a competitive procurement process that included on-site demonstrations, client site visits and a full analysis of the leading fleet software applications for public sector fleets, the City of San Francisco selected AssetWorks’ FleetFocus enterprise asset management software suite.

With FleetFocus, organizations can reduce maintenance expenditures and inventory expenses, while simultaneously improving productivity, efficiency, and asset utilization. FleetFocus tracks all functions related to the maintenance of equipment, including processing repair and preventive maintenance (PM) work orders; tracking operating expenses (e.g., fuel, oil, and licensing); and tracking and billing for equipment usage. FleetFocus also supports shop scheduling, replacement analysis, equipment and replacement planning, and AVL/GPS integration.

“We have a long history in the Bay Area, and are very pleased to add the City and County of San Francisco as a client partner. This project has many interesting elements; from GPS integration, robust billing requirements and managing carbon footprint information–we are eager to get started,” stated Jim Schnepp, Vice President of Sales, AssetWorks. “We are proud to provide comprehensive fleet management software solutions for some of the largest cities in the United States including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and now San Francisco.”
