3D PLM Seminar to Focus on Improving Aerospace Supply Chain Quality and Productivity

Elysium Inc., Kubotek USA and Lattice Technology Inc., will deliver joint seminar, highlighting Best-in-Class 3D Software for PLM Workflow.

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — March 10, 2010 — Lattice Technology® Inc., the standard for digital mock up and technical documentation software in the manufacturing enterprise, Elysium Inc., the world's leading developer of interoperability solutions for digital design and PLM markets, and Kubotek USA, a leader in geometry-based engineering software, today announced a joint seminar targeted at improving aerospace supply chain quality and productivity.

The free seminar will be held at the Edgewater Hotel in Seattle, Washington on March 25, 2010, and will discuss how to manage 3D data effectively through the design-to-manufacture process, delivering compelling payoffs to manufacturers in the aerospace supply chain.

The event will feature keynote speaker Rick Zuray, Technical Principal at Virtual Engineering Advanced Technologies, The Boeing Company. Zuray will discuss the history of using 3D at Boeing, how the company leverages usable 3D data throughout its projects, and how they are leveraging 3D for design reuse and archiving. In addition, the three host companies will present examples of how 3D data can be effectively integrated throughout the supply chain to significantly raise quality and productivity of manufactured products.

“Manufacturers of every size need to continually improve operations by finding and removing every bottleneck that delays manufacturing,” commented Ken Tashiro, CEO, Elysium Inc. “These three companies deliver industry-leading technologies and have established common, integrated workflows that deliver on that requirement by making 3D data useful and productive throughout the entire process.”

Lattice Technology Inc., Elysium Inc., and Kubotek USA each deliver key parts of a workflow which makes 3D data usable across the enterprise, including the exchange of data, verification of received data, and the ability to update data and then seamlessly manage engineering changes. Integration into design-to-manufacture channels keeps 3D data intact for downstream use, including process design, simulation and documentation.

“The integration of 3D data into every aspect of the supply chain means that delays are not just eradicated, but significant productivity improvements are also experienced,” said Bill Barnes, General Manager, Lattice Technology Inc. “Customers using 3D data after it has been released from design can reduce product lead times by 50%, improve design review times by 66% or more, and revolutionize assembly processes for greater accuracy and faster production.”

“3D data is not exclusive to the design department—it is an asset that is critical to the entire manufacturing operation throughout the supply chain,” said Bob Bean, Executive Vice President, Kubotek USA. “But the data needs to remain usable and flexible, and that’s where the technology offered by Kubotek USA, Elysium Inc., and Lattice Technology Inc., fits nicely. The three companies make the data not only productive, but tuned to the needs of each stakeholder throughout the supply chain.”

Attendees to this seminar will gain valuable insight to the issues they face every day:

  • Understanding where inefficiencies are occurring in your manufacturing operation and how to address them using 3D data
  • Relieving bottlenecks in 3D data sharing, editing and reuse regardless of its source
  • Improving 3D product design quality and product time-to-market
  • Managing engineering changes faster and more efficiently
  • Streamlining the flow of relevant, timely information to other departments and suppliers
  • Eliminating errors, delays and scrap on the shop floor
  • Building seamlessly and affordably on existing 3D CAD seats, ERP and PLM installations

The seminar will run in two separate sessions, one in the morning and another in the afternoon and is free to qualified attendees. Click here to find out more and register for the event.
