Cityworks Utilized Organization-Wide at Dublin, OH

Software Helps Generate Accurate, Useful Data Management

January 21, 2010 -- Sandy, UT — Embracing their new work management system as the means by which they have improved workflow and collected more accurate and meaningful data, Dublin, Ohio, is pleased with Cityworks by Azteca Systems, Inc., the leading provider of GIS-centric management solutions. Having implemented the software in various departments, the City recognizes the benefits of Cityworks’ GIS-centric approach and the organization-wide benefits it provides.

In December of 2005, Dublin re-evaluated the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) currently in use by their Public Services division and determined that to continue the use of the product would put a strain on City resources without producing viable results. With the goal of implementing a solution that utilized a single centralized system for asset data, work order data, and resident data, Dublin discovered Cityworks would fulfill all their requirements for a new CMMS. Having a well-established GIS in place, Dublin already had much of their asset inventory in their geodatabase. Embraced as the new citywide solution from the beginning and rolled out across many work units at Dublin simultaneously, Cityworks was viewed as a way to improve communication about work processes and City assets across divisions.

“Dublin has realized many benefits from our move to Cityworks,” says Project Leader Maria Renzetti, Cityworks Project Leader at the City of Dublin. “Facilities staff have benefitted from the use of cycles in planning their PM work. Frontline call takers have better resources at their fingertips for handling requests of all types. The management of Solid Waste programs has been simplified and we have better info about our sewer infrastructure today. Most telling is the fact that requests for reports have increased significantly, as management realizes the benefits of more accurate and useful data.”

“Dublin is a great example of a solid Cityworks client who has grasped the concept of GIS-centric, enterprise implementation and the benefits that come from that,” states Brian Haslam, President of Azteca Systems. “The unique GIS framework of our software combined with its superior work management capabilities creates a limitless range of possibilities for clients to customize the system to best fit their individual needs.”

Dublin recently hosted a Cityworks Server MMS Roll-Out Seminar. They are considering an upgrade to Server MMS in the future to support a more mobile work force.

About Dublin, OH
Surrounding the Scioto River in the northwest area of metropolitan Columbus, the City of Dublin is one of the fastest growing suburbs in Ohio with a population of about 32,000 as of the 2000 census. In 1970, Dublin was still a small town with only 681 residents, but with the construction of Interstate 270 came a population boom and the acquisition of major corporate headquarters such as Ashland, Inc. and Wendy’s International. In addition, the growth of the Muirfield Village Golf Club and its residential subdivision attracted a large number of affluent citizens to the rapidly growing suburb. After reaching a population of 5000, Dublin was officially declared a city in 1987. Each spring the city hosts the PGA Memorial Tournament. With three additional golf courses in town, a large number of golf enthusiasts have chosen to make Dublin their home.
