1Spatial is delighted to announce its participation in the 24th International Cartographic Conference (ICC) in Santiago, Chile.

1Spatial to talk SDIs and generalisation at ICC 2009 in Chile

November 11, 2009 -- The event brings together a variety of sectors in the search for geospatial solutions and in 2009, for the first time, will be hosted in South America. ICC takes place from 15th to 21st November 2009 and 1Spatial will deliver presentations in two distinct areas, Spatial Data Infrastructures and Generalisation.

As a longstanding member of the international geospatial community, 1Spatial has been working on delivering enterprise information architectures underpinned by geospatial data. Both presentations being covered during the ICC conference will build on that experience. 1Spatial will present on both the Infrastructure and Generalisation themes, delivering the following papers:

Conference theme 3, Infrastructures:

  • Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs) and regional competitiveness. The content of this paper is based on 1Spatial's involvement in ESDIN (the European Spatial Data Infrastructure best practice Network), INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe) and the company’s efforts to promote the Lisbon Strategy and wider SDI initiatives across the globe.

Conference theme 19, Generalisation:

  • Data quality and generalisation. This paper is based on a Generalisation Framework that provides an end-to-end approach from data preparation through to data publishing and will outline methodologies for preparing geospatial data for mapping on demand.

Steven Ramage, Business Development Director for 1Spatial, said:

“It is an honour to be presenting on two different, but very important conference themes at ICC 2009. We are involved in infrastructure programmes that are underpinned by geospatial data in a number of different countries. One of the keys to our success is providing trusted geospatial data and speeding up the data delivery process. This is normally part of a geospatial workflow integrated with business data, which supports public policy and delivers against government objectives. We offer a range of solutions from edge matching, unique IDs and generalisation, all underpinned by iterative quality control. We are pleased to be able to share our knowledge and expertise in these complex areas.

The ICC is the ICA’s flagship event and provides the opportunity to keep up to date with the latest scientific and technical developments in the cartographic profession, showcasing the latest technologies and projects. In addition to the presentation streams, ICC 2009 will have a technical and commercial exhibition in trade show format for delegates to browse and network.
