November 10, 2009 —Thanks to a Western Australian company the world is on the threshold of a global revolution in the way we monitor and respond to dangers from natural hazards. The new system may save billions of dollars.
Perth based iintegrate Systems has developed Indji Watch –a unique real time online system that provides early warning
of natural hazards and which also initiates predetermined responses.
Mr. Mark Carniello, Indji Watch Product Manager at iintegrate Systems, explains:
“Indji Watch monitors threats from natural hazards such as fire, lightning strike, flood, tsunami, cyclone, hurricane, severe
hail storm and even earthquake.
“It analyses the monitored risks against the geographic location of a user’s infrastructure and people - and then reports
via e-mail, SMS, fax and other notification system alerts.
“Indji Watch uses a standard online browser to display a view of hazards against the physical location of a user’s infrastructure and people – allowing users to avoid or minimize damage or injury,” said Mr Carniello.
“Indji Watch can also initiate automated pre-determined responses such as sounding alarms, cutting power, or
switching on generators and sprinklers.”
Indji Watch has already been running successfully in Australia with major electrical utilities including east coast groups
TransGrid, SP AusNet, Powerlink and AEMO.
The proven success of Indji Watch in Australia has led to trials by several of North America’s largest energy companies. These trials have included California ISO, Southern California Edison in the USA and BC Hydro and Manitoba Hydro in Canada.
These successful trials are expected to convert directly to significant sales in the near future.
Indiji Watch was developed by Perth based iintegrate Systems with support from the CRC for Spatial Information and a
Federal Government ‘Commercial Ready Grant’.
Indji Watch is a truly innovative and ground-breaking approach to online warnings that helps users to protect their valuable assets from natural hazards.
