Geoforce Launches Largest GPS Oilfield Equipment Tracking and Management Deployment in the Gulf of Mexico

Gator Tank Rentals turns to Geoforce to eliminate time-consuming, manual inventory counts

DALLAS, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Geoforce, Inc. has launched the largest oilfield equipment tracking and management deployment in the Gulf of Mexico on behalf of Gator Tank Rentals, Inc. A leading provider of offshore rental equipment services for the oil and gas industry, Gator Tank Rentals deployed Geoforce's powerful asset tracking and management Web-based software platform to streamline operations and simplify the tedious process of tracking thousands of pieces of expensive equipment spread across multiple customer locations.

Prior to launching Geoforce's cost-effective asset tracking and management solution, Gator Tank Rentals manually managed inventory counts in a spreadsheet and was forced to make educated guesses concerning the specific locations of assets. Now with Geoforce, Gator Tank Rentals simply logs into a secure Web site to locate, track and manage thousands of pieces of equipment with the click of a mouse.

"After years of painstaking, manual inventory management of thousands of assets deployed in the field on behalf of many customers, I thought there had to be a better way to manage the process," said Carter Askew, CEO of Gator Tank Rentals. "I envisioned a simple, affordable tracking system to help us locate equipment, streamline our operations, and give our customers the best service in the business. I was positive this technology would make an impact and after a considering our options, Geoforce was the right solution for our needs."

Locating equipment in the oilfield has always been a challenge. It's a 24/7 operation with valuable assets constantly in motion across drilling rigs, platforms, shore bases, marine vessels, and trucks. An increasing number of rental companies, service companies and operators in the oil and gas industry are turning to GPS tracking technology to simplify fleet management, operate more efficiently and improve customer service.

"Geoforce understood our business and was able to provide custom features that we needed. I am able to log in and instantly locate our tanks and baskets sorted by asset type, customer, offshore lease block, or serial number," said Terry Daigle, general manager, Gator Tank Rentals. "All of this helps us to operate more efficiently and provide better service. And because the Geoforce system is so intuitive, it was easy to integrate the technology into our operations and quickly realize the benefits."

Geoforce: Built for the Oilfield

"We are immensely honored to have been chosen by Gator for this deployment," said James MacLean, president of Geoforce and former Schlumberger engineer. "It is a perfect example of our vision of bringing together wireless asset tracking technologies with Web-based software tailored to the oilfield."

How Geoforce Works for Gator Tank Rentals

Intrinsically safe GPS tracking devices transmit position data to secure data centers one to four times per day using satellite communication networks and Geoforce's Web-based software does the rest. Each asset's current and historical location is shown on Google Maps along with offshore lease block information. Virtual boundaries are set to generate e-mail alerts based on movement and inventory at multiple locations can be managed automatically. Gator Tank Rentals also uses the software to manage lifting compliance related tasks for each asset such as mandatory visual inspections, load testing, magnetic particle inspection, and more.

Shortly after the initial launch, Gator Tank Rentals began to share access to their equipment rental customers. Gator and their customers are benefiting from the technology. Gator Tank Rentals provides superior service to its customers and realizes internal benefits by managing its entire fleet with Geoforce's Web-based software and satellite tracking technology.
