Targeted Advertising and Discounts for AAA Members Delivered via Free iPhone(R) application
CHICAGO, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of digital map, traffic and location data for in-vehicle, portable, wireless and enterprise solutions, today announced that AAA has selected LocationPoint(TM) advertising for AAA Discounts, the first in a series of free apps planned for the iPhone. AAA Discounts will help AAA's 51 million members discover over 100,000 places in the U.S. and Canada that offer promotions and savings. NAVTEQ's LocationPoint service, a location based advertising service for mobile applications, enables AAA to present its members with highly targeted and relevant offers and promotions from local advertisers where and when they are making shopping and purchasing decisions.
NAVTEQ LocationPoint, which combines location-based proximity, contextual and demographic targeting, with mobile coupon delivery, enables AAA Discounts to display ads from merchants in the area who offer a discount or promotional offer, and give users one-click calls to action to display and save coupons and place a phone call to a merchant.
The AAA application allows users to easily switch back and forth between maps showing locations and a listing of available discounts. AAA members are able to search by selecting business categories that interest them. Once they select a discount location, they'll get the best route from their location, along with the corresponding narrative directions.
For example, with NAVTEQ LocationPoint, AAA Discount app users at home or on the road can find a nearby hotel, restaurant or retail store offering discounts, and view offers from advertisers in that same area. These ads promote services and special offers and are displayed in rich graphical images offering users mobile coupons and click-to-call capability. An upcoming release will provide additional calls to action including route maps, and driving directions.
"AAA is pleased to expand our long standing relationship with NAVTEQ by offering our members the benefits of LocationPoint Advertising," said Bob Hopkins, Managing Director, AAA Travel Information.
NAVTEQ is uniquely suited to deliver and manage this turnkey solution given its role as a leader in location content and services, its relationships with hundreds of advertising partners and its ability to distribute attractive dynamic advertising inventory.
"Our relationship with AAA represents how NAVTEQ is setting new standards in mobile advertising through a trusted brand," said Christopher Rothey, vice president market development and advertising for NAVTEQ. "Benefitting from the full complement of NAVTEQ's advertising services and sales force, AAA Discounts is a free application that offers marketers relevant, actionable advertising that reaches consumers when they're at the intersection of location and decision."
