PDF3D Integration Success for ERPA Packaging CAD CAM Solutions

By integrating PDF3D® from Visual Technology Services, ERPA Systeme GmbH leverages Adobe® PDF for interactive 3D Packaging animation design tools for Cutting Folding and Digital Printing.

London, UK (PRWEB) September 29, 2009 –- ERPA Systeme GmbH, a leading provider of software and system solutions for the packaging industry based in Göttingen Germany, demonstrates VPack CAD CAM software at the FachPack 2009 exhibition in Nürnberg with new capability to produce 3D PDF documents, greatly improving communication of packaging configurations and designs. ERPA has integrated PDF3D technology from Visual Technology Services inside VPack, enabling 3D product designs to be animated within a standard PDF file for client review, showing full print layout, folded 3D packaging and assembly sequences.

Packaging development workflow involves construction of virtual product and package configurations in 3D, requiring true 3D thinking. Beyond simple static designs, modern package work-flows must consider manufacturing efficiency, process steps, material limits and production costs. Communication of packaging designs to manufacturing partners and to clients is critical to optimize the work-flow.

Generating 3D PDF reports directly from the VPack 3D CAD CAM design software allows the entire supply-chain team be quickly review and resolve manufacturing or design issues. By using the ubiquitous free Adobe® Reader for standard PDF files, the PDF3D model generation enables anyone to rotate, zoom, select and review full 3D packaging models.

Commenting on the new artwork image compression scheme in PDF3D, Kim Rosenbohm, development manager at ERPA, states “I'm stunned that the PDF3D team got this working in such a short time! You even beat Adobe at the file size! Making this into the final release is awesome for us. Thanks again for always providing quick feedback and fixes. In terms of service your company is probably the best thing that has happened to me in a long time.”
