Geographic Analysts Demonstrate the NAVTEQ Difference in Data Collection

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina—September 22, 2009 —
/PRNewswire/ -- NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of digital map, traffic and location data for in-vehicle, portable, wireless and enterprise solutions, will showcase enhanced content and map data at Expocomm Argentina in Buenos Aires, September 22 - 25, 2009 (Booth E-32). As part of NAVTEQ's product showcase, demonstrations of NAVTEQ Discover Cities(TM) and visual content will be highlighted. NAVTEQ Discover Cities provides pedestrian-centric content that enables mobile consumers to orient themselves and navigate efficiently by foot via public transit. NAVTEQ's broad visual content portfolio brings the map to life with 3D landmarks and cities to help simplify complex driving situations and assist in orienting the driver to their surroundings by replicating on the navigation screen what the end-user sees out their windshield. In Argentina, NAVTEQ Discover Cities and visual content are available for Buenos Aires.

Additionally, NAVTEQ will promote its first-ever Global LBS Challenge® developer competition dedicated to the South America region. The NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge invites developers to enter their pre-commercialized mobile location-based services (LBS) applications and compete for more than $6.7 million USD in cash and prizes. Registration for the South America region ends February 12, 2010 and winners will be announced at an awards ceremony during GEO Summit Latin America in Sao Paulo, Brazil (May 2010). Developers can learn more about registering for the 2010 Global LBS Challenge in South America by visiting the NAVTEQ booth (Booth E-32) or visiting www.LBSChallenge.com.

NAVTEQ maps are unique in their representation of real-world driving conditions. With maps spanning 78 countries and territories, NAVTEQ has built one of the most robust and accurate geographic databases in the world. From turn restrictions to relative road crossing heights, NAVTEQ captures up to 260 data attributes in the NAVTEQ database to enable a quality navigation experience.

In Argentina, the NAVTEQ map covers approximately 250,000 km equaling 86% of the roads. The Argentina map also contains core Points of Interest (POIs) such as restaurants, hotels, gas stations and banks to provide users with the ability to select their destination by either the POI listing or address. NAVTEQ geographic analysts located in Buenos Aires use local knowledge and local contacts to collect and verify details of the roads. They drive thousands of kilometers each year and have local knowledge of road network changes helping to make NAVTEQ maps the freshest and most up-to-date.
