Advances in Sescoi’s WorkNC automated CAM/CAD demonstrated at EMO

September 22, 2009 - This October, the WorkNC V20 automated CAMCAD system will be demonstrated, alongside the award winning WorkXPlore 3D high-speed collaborative viewer, at the EMO show in Milan by WorkNC Italian distributor, Taglio (PAD9, Corsia B, Booth B16).

WorkNC’s developer, Sescoi, puts a considerable amount of effort into ensuring that its software is automated, intelligent and easy to use, and Version 20 is another major leap forward in decreasing the skill levels required to program complex components. The benefits for users are that parts can be programmed quickly and to a consistently high standard, a broader range of employees can successfully use the software, and engineers can use the time saved to make productivity improvements elsewhere in the production process.

At the EMO show, Taglio’s WorkNC engineers will be on hand to demonstrate a range of time-saving new toolpaths in WorkNC V20, including Global Finishing and interactive drilling, together with spiral finishing and lollipop cutter support for 5-axis machining operations. The new Global Finishing routine is the next logical step for Sescoi, following the success and recognition of the excellence of its Global Roughing toolpath, released last year. The new routine automatically recognizes surface topology, applying the most appropriate combination of cutter trajectories to achieve the best possible finish in the shortest possible time.

5-axis machining offers many potential savings such as completing parts in one operation and the use of shorter and more rigid cutters for reliability and quality. Sescoi applied its “ease of use” strategy to this complex programming task. On the Taglio booth at EMO, visitors can see how a part can simply be programmed in 3-axis and converted into a collision free 5-axis toolpath by WorkNC’s Auto 5 module. The addition of lollipop cutter support in Version 20 further extends the capability of the software, making it easier to machine tubes and undercuts.

Visitors to EMO involved in product design, development and manufacture, will be able to request a live demonstration of WorkXPlore 3D on the Taglio booth. This award winning collaborative viewer is aimed at significantly shortening the product design and manufacture cycle. The high-speed software can import and manipulate very large CAD files from a wide variety of systems, sharing the information throughout a company and its supply chain, and allowing users to check, mark-up and analyze key elements of the design. Simultaneous involvement of more people in design and manufacture speeds up the whole process and makes the best use of the wide range of skills available within an organization, enabling products to be delivered faster, to a higher quality and functional standard, and at lower cost.

Sescoi’s software has been developed to provide solutions to real everyday manufacturing problems. Automation and simplification of the complex tasks involved eliminates potential delays, errors and cost overruns. By helping companies to achieve trouble free production Sescoi’s automated solutions can make a real difference to profitability.
