The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 stimulus package allocates 7.2 billion dollars for spending on broadband infrastructure through the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) and the Broadband Initiatives Program (BIP). Companies applying for stimulus funding must provide specified broadband data, including demographic and geographical areas that are not served by any advanced telecommunications provider. KOREM is providing the data and has developed the necessary mapping capabilities to satisfy stimulus application requirements.
"The August 14th application deadline for the first round of broadband stimulus funding has been extended to August 20th for those who have pending electronic applications. KOREM can help the applicants complete the process by providing the required data such as rural/non-rural, unserved/underserved, population, households, business counts, etc. As the extension deadline approaches, KOREM is helping telecommunications providers meet the critical data and mapping requirements," said Guy Larson, US General Manager, KOREM Inc. "We have the data built at the Census block level and the consultants on hand to assist with the application and the digitizing needed for the Broadband USA mapping portal."
